FORMER FURMAN STANDOUT ENTERS THIRD SEASON IN IFL
DOMINIC ROBERTO JOINS ATHENS CRUSH FOR INAUGURAL 2027 SEASON
ATHENS, Ga. — October 21, 2026 — The Athens Crush have announced the signing of running back Dominic Roberto, adding an accomplished ball carrier who starred at Furman University before spending the last two seasons making an impact in the Indoor Football League (IFL).
At Furman, Roberto established himself as one of the Southern Conference’s most productive running backs. He finished his collegiate career with 2,871 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns, while adding 24 receptions for 240 yards and another touchdown. In 2023, he was named a Furman co-captain and received preseason First Team All-Southern Conference recognition.
Roberto participated in the New Orleans Saints’ rookie minicamp in 2024 before beginning his professional career with the Massachusetts Pirates in 2025. He later joined the Fishers Freight and was re-signed by the organization for the 2026 season, when he rushed for more than 600 yards and scored 26 touchdowns.
His experience in the IFL adds another valuable dimension to the Crush offense as the team continues building its roster for the 2027 season.
“Dominic has demonstrated that he can produce at a high level, and he will be an exciting addition to our backfield,” said Athens Crush Head Coach Rob Keefe. “To win, we must establish the run, and Dominic provides the physical, hard-nosed style that forces opposing defenses to pay attention.”
